…ith a gutt-wrenching rejection for a simple reason — we are the best qualified to tell our stories. So many books, essays, poems, dissertations, speeches, plays, and films Black Americans have created that shed light on our collective experiences. And yet, some believe that a White person who makes themselves appear Black is a more credible voice on racism than Black people who experience racism; racially selective empathy taints the lens.
