A Picture of me

Just writing about my healing journey

So I recently had an oracle reading and was told to do this as a homework assignment. I decided to make them affirmations and flesh them out a bit to validate myself internally. here’s what I came up with.

  1. I’m a really good poet

After 8 years of writing poetry, I would hope that I’m good at it. I’m kidding. I’ve established myself as one of the premier poets in my area. Even to the point that my name is brought up whenever someone is looking for a poet to perform at an event. I’ve been asked to take the mantle of poet laureate of my city of residence. That mean’s something? Right?

I’m using “ shaky” text because there is no true measurement of being a “good poet” in my opinion. Art is subjective, therefore the fact that people pay me to perform, or that I’m nominated as a poet laureate doesn’t validate me as a poet. To me, the fact that I’m consistent and learning and that I touch people and inspire them validates my abilities as a poet. That being said, I’ve inspired a lot of youth and challenged a lot of folks to write poetry.

So yeah, I’m a good poet

I’m a kind person

Originally I wrote that I'm a “nice” person. I changed that to me being a “kind” person. To me, kindness means giving without expectation or obligation. It means to me that I’m willing to help others, and not at the expense of myself. Because I live in abundance and I’ll always have stuff to give.

I love to help people. It’s one of my passions. It’s why I write. It’s why I work in human services. Kindness to me makes the world go round and it also brings a smile to my face.

I’m handsome

Yes, I’m an attractive person. I finally started to believe that this year. It took me 30 years. for the longest I didn’t style myself well. I didn’t have confidence in my appearance. I didn’t take care of my skin or my hair. However recently I’ve been taking care of myself and noticing how handsome I am. And I love it. I’m living in my beauty and enjoying every bit of it.

I have value in this world

There were times I didn’t think I had value. That’s due to a lack of mindset. Also, a lack of understanding of my value…
